Beautiful Apartment, but Major Issues with Noise, Bathrooms and Transparency Positive: We stayed at 18 Bd Montmartre for 6 nights during the first week of August 2026 with our two children (11 and 15), two grandparents, and ourselves—6 people total. We booked through Booking.com specifically because we needed 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and fully functioning air conditioning. There are definitely positives. The apartment looks essentially as pictured in the listing and is beautifully renovated, very clean, elegant, and filled with natural light. It really does give you the feeling of living like a Parisian. The air conditioning worked extremely well in every bedroom and in the living room, which was especially important during Paris’ very hot summer. WiFi was reliable, and the apartment was well stocked with dishes, cups, and silverware. Negative: However, there were several significant issues that would prevent us from staying here again. The biggest issue was the noise. The apartment is on the first floor directly above street-level restaurants and very close to a metro station, on an extremely busy main street. The metro could be felt and heard throughout the apartment every few minutes, including late into the night and early morning. Two bedrooms face the street, and the windows are not soundproof. On Friday and Saturday nights, the restaurants remained open until around 2 a.m., while cars, pedestrians, and people talking on the street continued throughout the night. Even with sound machines that we routinely travel with for our children, sleeping was difficult. The two courtyard-facing bedrooms were considerably better, although the metro rumbling could still be felt and heard. If you are a light sleeper or traveling with children or older family members who need quiet at night, this is something you should seriously consider before booking. The bathroom situation was another significant issue. The listing advertises 3 bathrooms, but there are actually 3 showers and only 2 toilets. One toilet is in a very small separate room without a shower, and it is not shown in the listing photos. When Booking.com contacted the Hosts about this, they explained that “3 bathrooms” does not necessarily mean 3 toilets and that the photos were clearly provided. While technically understandable, we did not feel the configuration was sufficiently transparent when booking a property for 6 people. Unfortunately, on our first day we also discovered a large crack in the floor of one of the showers connected to a bedroom. We immediately reported it to the Hosts, who asked us not to use that shower because they were concerned about a possible leak. As a result, we were reduced to 2 usable showers and 2 toilets for 6 people.
